My other car's..

Here is an interior we are sure Enzo would have been proud of due to its engineered quality, style and detail. The Ferrari Factory Store in its dynamic housing , and in Reception desk world a clear winner ,by the multi talented designer Massimo Iosa Ghini of Iosa Ghini Associati. The highly burnished lacquer surfaces set the scene in this couture-motive stylised environment. It's maybe the only interior that you will want to run your hands over as well as the concept desk. To see this scuderia design in context view the Contemporist and Mood.

PROPERTY OF THE M.O.D.

Through this blog we have enjoyed so much good design and innovative ideas from around the world and particularly the far east, and long may it continue. Ministry of Design come up trumps again with this interior design for advertising agency Leo Burnett in Singapore which reminds us of the early work of David Connor. One half of the crisp white low key reception desk contain a novel housing of TV monitors to view the works of the agency. For the full project view dezeen or the interior designers website.

Handled with care

This robust looking rectilinear reception desk has a lot more to it than meets the eye. The modesty panels and DDA recess are treated with a rich leather surface and the desk top is similarly lavished a high spec manufactured in Quartzite Solid Surface material with a full desk length of textured caste glass that gives the finish a sparkle. Manufacturing by Martina and concept by the architects Bayliss Design.

SUM of the parts

Dynamic design and intriguing detail for this reception desk by Studio Under manufacture. 'The black back-end has doors that open for storage and front part seats one person'. We could imagine the front lighting up like a graphic equalizer but that I think is just our imagination. View their website as this group of creatives are an interesting mix of Architecture, design and manufacture. Thanks to Reception Desk Central pointing us to this one.

Down on Galway Bay

All the reception desks on our blog have been quite involved lately so we have included this compact charmer ,one small part, for the new interior scheme at the G Hotel in Ireland by the talented designer Philip Treacy, and a son of Galway too. So, hats off to him and also to Designscene for pointing us to this rich tailored design project.

Face to face

A Ministry of Design project for multidisciplinary company Face to Face , confidence in the detail in this multifunctional reception desk , no common references here, and confidence in the use of black in this slick environment. Words from the M.O.D ; 'We de-familiarized the distinction of a reception counter by turning it into a 10m sculptural magnet bar where tenants can meet, play and interact...

X marks the spot

Some comments we have read on this project have not been too complimentary about this space or the photography but as we are featuring it thus, top marks, even if the nurses look a little sinister!. Beautiful cabinet making, in Australian nut wood, snakes through this space in white out for the GKK dental ambulatory in Austria. The design of the seamless race track of veneers is down to the deft and steady hand of X Architects of Vienna. More photographic intrigue and info of this project by the architect Max Nirnberger to be found at Archdaily and first spotted @ Vitabits.

No birdsnest

Maybe it is a bit tenuous to make a link with the shape of this reception desk and the architect of this buildings more famous cousin the Chinese national stadium in Beijing but but we will. Here a functional piece of furniture is given a subtle take with tight radius counter edge and shallow conical sides. Housed in the reception of the Cottbus University library designed by the globe trotting Herzog and De Meauron architects, with its alphabetical envelope, shares its detail with other similar elements around the space. Botique treatment

Trunk sized slabs of lush dark stained timber floating on a monolithic glow with this aesthetic transfered to other interior elements . The Akmani Botique Hotel in Jakarta gets the the service from TWS & Partners Architects(nice website view to enjoy the vibe) headed by Tonny Wirawan Suriadjaja.

Where's the bridge?

There is a certain dental geometry in the detail of the planning of this interior, strong white features off set against brown landscape facets highlighted by flashes of antiseptic blue. We found this one on Vitabits ( via Dezeen) who made a connection with the USS Enterprise, maybe because Bones wouldn't look out of place here and you can't deny a little retro play, but no dodgy sliding doors just beautiful constructed dental work.
The project is at the Brauner Wegner Priehn dental practice in Hamburg created by the progressive Berlin architects J Mayer H. Photography by Ludger Paffrath.

Little epoch in white

Sharp design intelect again from IF Group but this time the reception desk is housed within their own studios in a former industrial 'Grunderzeit'building in Stuttgart. Please view their website for further images of the creative interior.
Thanks to Wieland for the text and image -
'The entrance to the office is consciously staged. From a tiled and rather sombre staircase, through a heavy metal door, the visitor enters a luminescent, white reception area........The cubic, white reception desk located beneath two large light discs fits seamlessly into the white space. Two elements dissolve the reductionist nature of this space : An abstract wall graphic on the entrance wall to the studio points the way to the creative department. In striking contrast to the white walls, the floor is fitted with a violet carpet, displaying a check pattern of our own design. This effectively adds a softer, a more cosy note to the precise clarity of the reception area.'

Hall Cabinet

A coup for Reception Desk World a Studio Job posting designed by Job & Nynke thanks to their communications person , Maarten , who sent us the photos and text. Enough said, here in their words :
25 KV project 2000, location 25 KV Building Rotterdam
The former energy plant 25 KV has a sober but functional character. The building elements are standardised but the way of project development and architecture result in conceptual and ambitious solutions. The enormous glass facade seems to be in constant motion by the building inhabitants.
Except of the glass front and galvanised construction, the entrance (ca 120m2) is completely coated with shiny grey casted epoxy ( Ral 7035)
In order to create a contrast with the clean environment I designed two pieces of furniture which claim the opposite of what the architecture leads to suspect. The aim is that the furniture do not seem to be standardised but 'extreme unique' by the way of design, choice of material and realisation.
There is a lyrical (control panel/machine) relationship between the two pieces of furniture. They seem to be useless objects which have been positioned coincidentally but are full of functions for the visitors and inhabitants.
Hall Cabinet
Material: Steel frame, multi plywood, glossy PU coating.
Dimension: 390x460x210 cm.
This 'could be' flying machine stands parked in the big hall of the building. In contrast with the constructive, newly built 25kv building the cabinet has a deconstructive and asymmetrical character by means of the long table with a free span on which the ponderous body rests ( ca. 1000 kg). The cabinet is 'closed' but contains more than 50 doors and two big lids behind which a functional workspace and 'chair storage' are hidden. While the communication Unit has archetypical form characteristics, the cabinet is 'extreme unique' because it denies all influences of a generation of designers who grew up in the period with the authentic 'My first Sony' and Playmobil. Finally the cabinet has been finished with a high glossy coating with 'classic' colours so that the viewer can be surprised to see that the cabinet seems to be a big piano after all.
The mail box has a anti-hooligan system consisting out of two built-in speakers which produce the sound of 'continuous human humming'.

Fade to grey

Another IF Group original interior for Design Agency Bruce B Gmbh in Stuttgart.
You can not ignore the diagonally laid timber shingle clad wall when admiring the desk with its muted grey desk envelope, desaturated so as not to compete too closely with the distinctive opposing sculptural surfaces .The white solid surface counter top mirrors the adjacent door frames and structural clean lines and elevate the desk from just being a 'craft' object.Note the inlaid contrasting desk surface.
Thanks again to Wieland @ Ippolito Fleitz for the images with further text to follow explaining the project.Photography from Zooey Braun.

Inox zest

Diamond edged Parisan design from architects and designers Carbondale for international fashion house Escada in Munich. The interior is seamlessly tailored in precision stainless steel from coloumn casings to stair balustrades to the theatrically staged reception desk. Get down that catwalk and strike a pose while viewing the whole shoot at the above or @ photographers Jimmy Cohressen on the front covers of Minimalismi and Coolhunter.

Practice makes perfect

IF Groups confident surgically precise design yet tactile and foyeresq reception area was prescribed for a new clinic in Frankfurt by client Plaxisklinik Kaiserplatz. The 'dynamically formed reception' desk is the dominant feature and axis leading to the main arterial florially motifed corridors. Thanks again to wieland @ studio of Ippolito Freitz. The public face of this interior has been unveiled to us by Zooey Braun's photography.

On the way with amarillo

An interior that is as much about graphic identity ,promoting the brand of ADAC Europes largest automobile club, than interior showmanship . Slabs of corporate flat yellow and intense accents are balanced against strong geometric forms of the bespoke furniture and the architecture itself. We have included the customer interface desks for their originality and clear considered design intent, with abstracted references to automotive design interpreted in pure line.See more from one of Germanys best, the multidisaplinery practice , Ippolito Fleitz Group.
Great photography by Uwe Spoering.

Buildering we go

This hotel reception desk has found its self in the spot light purely for being just a big lump roughly hewn granite, maybe a form that you may more readily 'belay off ' rather than sit at. Unfortunately we are unable to find any more info.
