Breaking down the barriers

Earlier this week the Architects Raich Del Rio kindly sent in information to R.D.W. of one of their completed projects : The Citizen Attention Offices for the Catalan Government in Girona, which this group of images is from. The reception desk itself is part of a group of integrated furniture that provides duel working areas that service both the administrative and public usage of this environment. With this synergy in mind they set out to create an open and inviting area that is fluid , functional and not atypical of such a building type- less barrier and more open shop window.  Although they were confined initially by a strict palate of colours they overcame this with creative product placement, an articulate lit volume and sympathetic lacquered forms that subtly reflect the dynamic building structure.
