A post purely to promote the work of Photographer Andreas Gursky from his earlier work circa 1982 . The retro ambiance is appealing, a deceptively simple image of spontaneous observation, but there is a lot more going on from the proportions of the rectilinear surfaces, contrast in tone, grids, the rhythmic multiples of fixtures, the two attentive attendants that sit passive behind a reception desk in a pool of polished stone etc etc. Via Canadian Art
